![]() Many of the rendering/lighting issues that were present in the 2020 reveal trailers can still be found in this build. Though I'm not yet sold on the shadows and lighting. I really loved the castle, all the different passageways and areas. So I could imagine that they probably wouldn't sound as robotic when mixed with a "more present" background/ambience music. This happened before in the gamescom Dark Arts trailer with the teacher/caretaker/father person but that also had (comparatively) loud music playing alongside it. ![]() There's only so much you can do with that sort of automation.Īs for the voices themselves, some felt sort of robotic (but in a weird way). They're not a dealbreaker for me (there were a few good ones, but heavily overshadowed by the worse ones). At least they're not claiming this is a life simulator, it's just a highly magical and immersive little jaunt into the world.įacial animations will be percieved kinda differently for each and everyone here but them looking not great/on par with the mocapped/mixed&edited cutscenes was sort of a given (based on the speech tool they mentioned in the Autodesk presentation). Hogwarts: Legacy (and especially in the demo today) has taken great strides to control peoples' expectations. I'm seeing the same telltale signs of fan overhype that I saw with Cyberpunk 2077, but at least with CP2077 it was often thanks to lies and fake marketing. I think it's unfortunate for them that this is the first serious HP lore game in a long time, and so peoples' expectations are full a full-on life simulator in Hogwarts. These guys are pouring their hearts into making a highly immersive take on HP lore for people to dip into. Not all video games can have Call of Duty's budget with absolute top industry talent. This seems like a highly reasonable middle ground. Much as I fantasize about a fully scheduled Hogwarts school/class simulator, that would take IMMENSE development.
